One step closer to strengthening trade between Canada and Africa

Ottawa, July 18, 2025 – BridgeBridge Canada and PMAWCA (AAssociation of West and CentralAfrican Ports Management) are joining forces to strengthen the sustainable development of African ports, their regional integration and global connectivity, including through the growth of trade between Canada and Africa.

The new Memorandum of Understanding between the two organizations is part of the campaign surrounding the Canada-Africa Forum on the Port Industry and the Blue Economy (Forum CAPBLEU2025) to be held in Moncton, New Brunswick, from November 11 to 13, 2025.

"The challenges related to globalization, ecological transition, logistics security and digitalization require structuring international partnerships," said Mr. Jean-Marie Koffi, Secretary General of PMAWAW.

"That is why we are very pleased with this commitment by our two organizations to make the Forum CAPBLEU2025 a great success. Together, we will move the needle on the dial of economic prosperity ."

"The African and Canadian port ecosystems have a lot to share and build together in terms of innovation, best practices and investments," added Mr. Yaye Peukassa, Founder, President and CEO of Pont-Bridge Canada.

"We are delighted that PMAWCA is joining us in laying the foundations for strategic, technical, institutional and economic collaborations that will result from CAPBLEU 2025. Its experience in this area will be decisive for the transatlantic partnerships that will be forged there. »

Under this new Memorandum of Understanding, the two organizations will work hand in hand to ensure significant representation of Africa at the Forum, to strengthen cooperation between African and Canadian ports, and to share best practices in port management, logistics innovation, environmental sustainability and maritime safety.

"We are convinced that the CAPBLEU 2025 Forum will stimulate bilateral investments, inter-port projects, institutional twinning and knowledge transfer," added Mr. Peukassa.

"In today's environment where national economies need to move away from dependence on the United States, this is a most promising step."
