Université de Moncton joins Pont-Bridge Canada for the Canada-Africa Forum on the Port Industry and the Blue Economy

Moncton, NB, June 26, 2025 – The Université de Moncton is joining the coalition led by Pont-Bridge Canada to make the Canada-Africa Forum on the Port Industry and the Blue Economy a great success.

"We are very pleased to see the Université de Moncton officially join our coalition to make New Brunswick a key player in diversifying Canada's markets and sources of supply and a hub to a market of 1.4 billion consumers," said Yaye Peukassa, President and CEO of Pont-Bridge Canada. "In addition to its $10,000 in financial support, the University will actively contribute to the Forum through scientific collaboration and strategic support, particularly through the participation of its Innovation Support Office."

The Université de Moncton joins the Forum CAPBLEU2025 | BLUESHIFT2025 as a scientific partner. "Our participation aims to enrich the discussions and stimulate the reflections that will take place at the Forum through research and data analysis," said Dr. Denis Prud'homme, President and Vice-Chancellor of the Université de Moncton. "Thanks to the involvement of our researchers and joint work with Pont-Bridge Canada, we will be able to contribute to a better understanding of the trade flows between Canada and Africa involving ports and their logistics issues. This is a field with great potential for our universities and for local businesses."

The blue economy refers to economic development focused on the sustainable use of oceans, seas and marine resources. As for the port industry, it refers to ports, of course, but also to all the customers and players who make up their ecosystem. The Forum will feature expert panels, business meetings, investment opportunities and high-level discussions on market diversification, exploring new sources of supply for Canadian companies in the midst of a tariff crisis, optimizing supply chains and the future of the port industry and maritime economies between Africa and Canada.

The event, which will be held in Moncton from November 11 to 13, 2025, already counts on the active participation of UNI Financial Cooperation, another key economic player on the New Brunswick scene.
